Faith in Action Quad Cities provides services for senior citizens and adults suffering physical, chronic or terminal health needs.
Services are focused on informal, non-medical care and help with everyday activities. With this volunteer assistance, the growing number of aging and ill members of the community can maintain their independence for as long as possible.
Companionship visits or phone calls- The largest epidemic facing seniors is loneliness.
Daytime Respite Care- Respite care gives the primary caregiver, usually a spouse who needs a break, time to get away. Basically our volunteers will read, play a game or sit with a person for a couple of hours. No hands on or medical skills needed.
Light Housekeeping- can be vacuuming, dusting, or throwing a load of towels in the washer.
Minor Home Repair- simple handyman repairs or common maintenance like changing a light bulb or a smoke detector battery.
Shopping or errand running- like picking up groceries with the neighbor or for the neighbor.
Telephone reassurance- Many seniors live alone and family live a distance away. This is a call to check on them and provide phone companionship
Transportation- provide rides to medical appointments.
